The number of rumors that have been going around about the Nexus 8 is nothing short than impressive. One thing they all agree upon is the launch date. First it was leaked that it would be a mid-year launch. Most recently there is talk about April this year. Be it the middle or the end of the month the important fact is that we finally have some specs for it.
The Asus made Nexus 7 was quite a hit in term of sales. Then came the second generation – still named Nexus 7 and managing to gather sales around 300 million units. With the upcoming Nexus 8 we can surely guess Google has bigger plans. The sleek looking device may still be provided by Asus – making it the third tablet for Google they build. On the other side it could be that Google only gives a maker two orders tops and then contracts another. Specs wise the tablet is said not the most powerful but powerful enough as to also keep the costs down.
With a 1.7 GHz clocked Snapdragon 600 on board and 2 GB of RAM one can be sure there will be no problems with this one in running any kind of app or game at the optimum speed. Then there is the Adreno 320 GPU that powers the 1080p screen, a 2 MP front camera and a 3 MP image sensor on the back. As for the storage part it is said that the 8 GB version would cost only $199. A very good price considering. Let’s hope the storage options will more diverse.
